Rev. Michael Bentley

Rev. Michael Bentley, his wife Stacy and their five children moved to Long Island in February of 2014 to pastor the church at East Islip.

Although Mike was born in California, he grew up mostly in northern Iowa. In 1991, he graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology with an Associate of Arts degree and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for fifteen years in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, Iowa. During this time, he served RCA and CRC congregations as a deacon and a High School youth leader. Mike entered seminary in 2005. In 2009, he graduated from Mid-America Reformed Seminary in Dyer, IN (Chicago area) with a Masters of Divintiy degree (MDiv).

Mike was ordained as a Minister of the Word in the Christian Reformed Church in North America in November of 2010. He previously served as Pastor of the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church in Hollandale, MN for three and a half years before accepting the call to Christ Community Church of East Islip.



Mel Van Essendelft, Vice-President of Council
Mel is a long-time resident of West Sayville on the South Shore. He is a graduate of Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI., and has been a member in the Chrsitian Reformed Church for most of his life. Mel served as an interim preacher before Mike anwered the call to East Islip, and teaches on Wednesday Night as well.

Ed Zalewski, Church Treasurer
Ed has been involved in shipping for many years and can pack a truck like nobody’s business. He is currently serving his first term as an elder.
